I Caught Ogopogo – A Whale of a Tale

Last summer my father surprised the family by packing up the SUV with our camping gear, fishing poles and sleeping bags; then we headed to British Columbia for the week. We found a nice campground on Okanagan Lake. We spent most of the day setting up the camping area. I found amusement watching my father setup the tent. He had tent poles sicking up every which way, and because he forgot the hammer he had to use a tire crowbar to bang the tent stakes into the ground.

I went to gather firewood near the waters edge. I found a piece of drift wood up near the shore as I approached it I remember seeing the signs in town about some sort of monster that lived in the lake or something or another. I wasn’t scared I just was cautious as I grabbed the drift wood and started back to the camping site.

By then my father had the tent in place and had just finished setting up my own tent. It was blue and much smaller than the origional tent but I my sleeping bag fit and I still had some room to place my radio and such.

I got a good fire going and we cooked some hotdogs that we bought at the local gas station. We bought too many packages and because we had no refrigerator we went ahead and cooked all 2 packs of hot dogs. I was sick of hotdogs.

The next morning we were to go fishing. We just went into town to get some worms. Then headed out to the lake. I decided to do some fishing near where I had found a piece of drift wood the day before. The water looked calm and deep, and it was like a small cove or something. I popped the lid on my coke can and started drinking it. It was a little hot out so I put my hat on and listened to my ipod as I fished.

When I fish I am not in a hurry to catch anything, I figure I have bait and a bobber so that should do the trick. If a fish comes by then fine otherwise the bobber is just going to float around until it gets near shore if the wind happens to carry it. Which in my case was what kept happening so I decided to bottom fish without the bobber.

I casted out the line and reeled it in some so that the line was snug against my finger. The sun was in my eyes so I just looked down.
I was there about 10 minutes when a shadow appeared on the ground around me. I heard some splashing and looked up.

Ogopogo CaughtI couldn’t believe what I was seeing. “I saw a creature with a long neck and I could clearly make out flippers.” I was not more than 100 feet from this creature. It started to swim up back and forth catching my line in the process. My line started feeding from the fishing rod. The creature was about 20 feet long, not as big as I thought it was suppose to be. “It had something in its mouth. It continued to swim up and down a amazing speed for about 2 minutes then it dived under the water.

At this time my line was still feeding. I started to reel in the line when all the sudden the line just snapped. I looked out over the water looking to where the creature was. I slowly walked up to the shore, see I wasn’t scared I was just being cautious. I was about 1 foot from the water and continued to lookout into the water. I was looking really hard at where the creature was. I was still wondering what was going on or what I had seen. I scanned the open waters…but the creature was gone… perhaps it headed out to deeper water.

I never did catch a fish that day but I had one heck of a story to tell, not that anyone believes it.

Tessie Sightings at Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe’s Lake Monster

Tahoe Tessie is a very popular legendary creature and it is supposed to be residing in Lake Tahoe in Nevada. The tales associated with Tessie firmly say that this creature is dwelling in the lake. In the mid 1800s the stories of Tessie where told by the members of Washoe and Paiute tribes. Those who have seen this creature describe it as over 60 feet long creature with dark skin, serpentine and swelling body. This lake monster has believed to look very much like reptilians. Today also it is believed that this legendary creature is still dwelling in the Lake Tahoe in Nevada. Many people tell stories that they have seen this creature but still there is no proof of its existence till now.

The stories of Tessie are so popular in this area that the lake is now known as “Tahoe Tessie”. There are several reports that a large creature is living in the waters of this lake. Since the time this lake is there people believe the stories of Tessie and not only this many were sure that they have seen it in the waters of this lake. Today also many people who go to visit this lake confirm that they have seen this creature. Jaques Cousteau also went to find out about the existence of this creature in the waters of Lake Tahoe but he never told about his findings to anyone. His findings and film footage were not been made public. According to him the world is still not ready to know what is there down in the Lake Tahoe. But as he has not made his findings public, the mystery associated with Tessie still continues.

Actually the rumors about the existence of some large creature in Lake Tahoe started from some rumor that a scaly creature is residing in the deep waters of this lake. These rumors then passed on from generations to generations. Even if there is no proof about the existence of Tessie, people believe it and share these stories with their next generations. That’s how this rumor lived for so long.

Lake Tahoe a 1,645 Feet Deep Abysis

Lake Tahoe is the world’s tenth deepest lake and its water is 1,645 feet deep. This lake is 22 miles long and 12 miles wide. This lake has gained good popularity due to the rumor that a scaly serpentine like creature is residing in it. People from all over the world come to visit this lake in order to try their luck whether they can get some pictures of this strange creature so as to solve the unsolved mystery. Every time anyone says that he or she has seen some strange creature the stories of Tessie again starts spreading and people come with hopes to see this creature.

In Tahoe Lake the craze of finding Tessie is so much that every day people come for Tessie sightings in the Lake Tahoe. Twenty years ago, when Squaw Valley Institute sponsored a lecture at the university, several scientists confirmed that they have seen Tahoe Tessie. Goldman explained in this lecture that everyone who goes to find Tessie actually sees some dark object in water and thinks that they have seen Tessie when in fact they have not even seen its head or tail. There is no photo evidence about Tessie and hence it is better to consider it as just mere stories from folk tales.

Ronky – Nessie Of New York’s Lake Ronkonkoma

Ronky The Monster Of Lake Ronkonkoma New York

Jamison_Ronky It was a Sunday in Summer of 2009 went I first saw Ronky with my own eyes. I had heard stories of Ronky here and there, They had come to me in Whispers really. The History of Ronky has been a well kept secret for Hundreds maybe Thousands of years.  I had spent weeks watching this lake in Lake Ronkonkoma on Long Island in New York State. This day I was driving around going past one of the many Parks and Beaches around the lake. While I was going North on Lake Shore Road I saw something in the water out of the corner of my eye, but after weeks of watching this lake I thought it was just someone out on another blow up raft and didn’t really think much of it !

As I was passing the Dinning Hall “Windows on the Lake” there is an opening where Guests can get a good look at the lake. I looked over and I saw what I had though to be a raft a few seconds before was the creature. I though to myself this could just be another hoax! After years of searches and hunts leading to nothing but dead ends I was not going to get my hopes up to fast. I slowed down and watched as the Creature swam around the lake enjoying itself! I was a little scared but at the same time I could not stop myself from smiling thinking this was really it!

I drove around the lake following along with “Ronky” at some point I pulled into a parking lot and walked onto one of the beaches. I slowly got my Camera out fearing as soon as I went to take the picture the creature would disappear. I snapped a shot, checked it in the review mode of the Camera and I could not believe I had captured a perfect shot of the Creature that no one could dispute the authenticity of ! When I looked back at the Lake Ronky was gone.

Over the next few days I carefully started asking the locals in the area if they had ever seen something weird in the Lake? It seems that to everyone in Lake Ronkonkoma Ronky is well known.  He is not a myth or urban legend here. He is just another Member of the Village! I have been told there are two Differences between Nessie in Scotland’s Loch ness and Ronky in New York’s Lake Ronkonkoma.  One Ronky is real and Two Ronky is protected by the Locals and his name is not defiled for tourist money.

There are many stories of Ronky that go back Hundreds of years. The one I found most interesting was a story that happened about 15 years ago. It seems there was an expedition sent to look into and map the depths and some underwater streams under Lake Ronkonkoma. This expedition never happened. The Official Story given was the expedition ran out of Money and was going to come back when they got more funds. I was told by an old time resident that wishes her Identity to remain a secret that the real story is a group called the “Keepers of the Lake” told the expiation in no uncertain terms it would be in their best interested for them to leave and not come back!!!

The people of Lake Ronkonkoma have kept this Monster Ronky loved and Protected for many years! I respect and sympathize with them, but I have spent my adult life and most of my families fortune searching for a creature like Ronky. This is my job and I must share this with the world. I have received many threats not to print this story! I have posted it here to go out to these newsgroups if I do not reset the settings at least once a week. If you are reading this there is a good chance something has happen to me. Please do not let what I have spent my life hunting for go unheard of ! Ronky is there in that Lake! Lake monsters do exist.
