Highway 50 South of Lake Tahoe by Placerville, California

On July 11th, 2009 between 10pm to 10:30pm. Riding in our family car, my husband being the driver and I was in the passenger, driving along Hwy US 50 between Twin Bridges and Silver Fork. We’ve taken the highway many times before but until that day only saw deer. Because of this I spend a good portion of the ride looking out for deer or small animals while we drive through the mountains as the road is lined with trees. If a deer happens to run in front of the car I can alert my husband, not that this every happened.

Bigfoot Crossing

Bigfoot Crossing

On this particular drive we noticed a creature that can only be described as Bigfoot. It was 8 to 10 foot tall and hairy it was just standing on the side of the road in a vehicle pull out area, just watching the vehicles traveling up and down the highway. Well neither my husband nor myself could believe what we were seeing. It was big and scary, it’s eyes could bee seen on the creatures face as the headlights shined in it’s face. It was the hairiest creature I’ve ever seen and the monster’s fur was a very dark brown to almost a black color. It must have been at least three feet thick at the shoulders.

My husband had thought that initially it was a large tree in the middle of the pull out area. Until he hit the high beams and illuminated the bigfoot as our car passed; it did seem to be startled by the high beams and jumped a little as if startled.

The exact location of the creature or bigfoot was on the side of the road in the direction of Sacramento, CA. The turn out is 3 to 5 miles between Silver Fork and Twin Bridges.

We now avoid that Highway all together and would never drive it at night. What we observed really scared us. Good thing it was on the side of the road if we hit it with our car we’d probably be dead.
